CAMPUS LOCATIONS

- Newcastle has two major campuses. The largest is Callaghan, 12km from the centre of Newcastle. It is set on 140 hectares of natural bushland and is well serviced by public transport.
- The other is at Ourimbah on the Central Coast, halfway between Newcastle and Sydney. It, too, is a bushland campus and is only a 10-minute walk from the Ourimbah railway station.
- The University also has its city precinct in the Newcastle City Centre comprising the Graduate School of Business, Newcastle Legal Centre and the University’s Conservatorium of Music.
THE CITY OF NEWCASTLE & THE HUNTER REGION
- Newcastle is the second oldest city in Australia after Sydney.
- It has a population of over 137,000. Safe and friendly, it offers you all the benefits of a big modern city - without the hassles.
- The city centre sits facing a beautiful working harbour and is surrounded by fabulous beaches. In fact it is one of the few cities in the world where you can walk to the surf from the city centre.
- Newcastle is part of the Hunter region (population over 600,000) and is home to some of Australia’s finest vineyards, a great mountain range called The Watagans that’s ideal for bushwalking, camping and horseriding.
- There are also rivers and lakes for canoeing and sailing (Lake Macquarie is Australia’s largest seaboard lake) and not far away is the beautiful area of Port Stephens where the water is unbelievably clear and where dolphins drop by regularly as they cruise up and down the coast.
